Ellie Fike

Miss Ellie Fike, long a resident of Warrensburg, died about 10 o'clock last night at the Nace Nursing Home, 124 E. Market Street, where she had been taken about three hours before. She had been in failing health for some time, but had been able to be out until recently. She was 89 years old. Miss Fike was born in Illinois, January 14, 1861, and came to Warrensburg with her parents. Capt. And Mrs. Henry Clay Fike when she was a small child. She had lived in the home at 419 North Maguire Street during her entire residence here. Her father was associated with the Warrensburg Normal for some time and an early day miller, having been in business with Nathan and Moses Land in the Eureka Mills. The mill was later purchased by the Roseland Company. Miss Fike graduated from the Warrensburg Noraml 1881 and for many years was a teacher in Warrensburg and in other places in the state. She leaves distant cousins, Mrs. Clinton Barnhill of Marshall and Mis Martha Rayhill of Lawrence, Kansas; are cousins and will arrive tomorrow and Miss Pauline Prentiss of Sedalia is another cousin.
