Gabriel Kittrell b. ca 1830 m. Harriet Amanda Massey 2-6-1870. His parents were Noah Kittrell, Sr. & Hannah Pate. Gabriel is buried in Union Hill Church cemetery along with his wife. His father was from Pitt County, NC the son of John Kittrell & ______.
His grandparents were Jethro Kittrell & Priscella Harrell. Gabriel had brothers John & Noah Jr. his sisters were Nicey, Rachel and Nancy who m. Isaac Moye. Believe the Moyes were from Pitt County.

"Jack or Jonathan Kittrell, our earliest ancestor married Susan Bell, and lived in Pitt County, North Carolina. His home was in the souther section of Pitt County near Rountree's churh. He was a farmer, land and slave holder.

Noah Kittrell had a brother by the name of Allen Kittrell. It shows on the
Washington County Georgia tax records that Allen Kittrell was in default of
his taxes. Did Allen go to Georgia for awhile? Did he just buy some land
and decided he did not want to live there. Allen Kittrell died in Pitt County,
North Carolina.
Noah Kittrell witnessed deed in Pitt County, NC on February 9, 1809 Deed Book R Page 254. So he must have been of age then and still in Pitt County.
Noah Kittrell mentioned as heir of Polly Kittrell Nobles (his sister) Pitt Deed
Book CC Page 115 December 21, 1822. An advertisement in local paper mentioned Noah Kittrell as being notified of this since it appeared he had left the county about 1812.
1828..Noah Kittrell made a tax return in Wood's District, Washington County,
Georgia on 400 acres adjoining Moore. Listed 1 poll (head tax) 2 slaves
1830..Noah Kittrell made a tax return in Washington County, Georgia for
400 acres on Lamar's Creek adjoining Massey. Listed 1 poll, 3 slaves.
Paid $1.55.
1836..Noah Kittrell made return on same land as in 1830.

CONFEDERATE PENSION APPLLICATION UNDER ACT OF 1910
Johnson County, Georgia May 26, 1911
Personally comes Gabriel Kittrell of said state and county, who on oath says that in early part of the year 1862 he was transfered to Company E 4th Louisana Battalion, called Natchez Rifles, that three or four weeks before the close of the war in 1865 he was captured and made prisoner of war, that he was captured and made a prisoner of war at Fort call a Spanish Fort, said Fort being near Mobile Bay, that he was captured and held a prisoner abut 30 days
before he was discharged in 1865; that he was on and doing pidket duty near said Fort when captured and was held a prisoner in the said fort a day and night and then was carried by the yankees to an island called Ship Island where I was held a prisoner three or four weeks, then the yankees carried me with other prisoners in boat to Vicksbury, Miss. then and there myself and the other prisoners were delivered to confederate officers, then the confederate officers discharged or parolled us. I have lost the paper showing that I was honorably discharged. From the time that I was transfered to the Company E 4th Louisana Battallion in 1862 I did regular and continuous service until I was captured at siad Fort right at close of the war in 1865.
