OBITUARY OF JOHN KITTRELL
Died in Sandersville on the 29th of July in the forty-third year of his age,
John Kittrell, Esq. Born and raised in the county of Washington, the deceased has been long known as one of our most prosperous and enterprising farmers. An honest man, a devoted father a kind and sympathising neighbor, he commanded the respect and won the regard of all who knew him intimately. In the vigor of manhood, in perfect health, he was cut off in an affray which he had endeavored by every honorable means to avoid. His sudden death has deprived his children, now double orphans of their only natural guardian. As a citizen, his death is a public loss for no man of his age has done so much in this county to develope its agricultural resources. With a mind so neatly practical and investigating, his sound discriminating judgement enabled him to digest and apply the truths eliminated in the theoretical speculations of others. A practical agriculturist, he delighted in agriculture as a science, and had he lived, would have obtained in practice a skill possessed by few. But he is gone. Let him rest in peace. A Friend.

published in Sandersville, Georgia.

Georgeann Kittrell
On the evening of August 11, 1864 Georgia W. Kittrell passed gently away from
earth to heaven, aged 7 years 7 months and 19 days. Diptheria has again
visited our community and laid it withering blight upon the pure...throwing
Her little cold arms around the neck of her brother in law, her lips quivering
in death, said in accents sweet, Bud Jimmie, my ssiter don't cry for me, I want
to go home to heaven to my dear mother. Then calling her sisters one by one
imprinted the last cold kiss upon their lips.
