Obituary - Death Takes Mr. Kittrell, Lexington Leader (May 16, 1966)
Services for James B. Kitrell, of 306 South Hanover Avenue, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary -- Broadway, by the Rev. Harry W. Alexander. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.
Mr. Kittrell died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday at the Veterans Administration Hospital after a long illness.
He was a former vice president of Kittrell Motor Co. and was a member of the City Planning and Zoning Commission from 1952 to 1963. He was treasurer of the commission.
He was a native of Columbia, Tenn., and was a son of the late J. Ernest and lettie May Bingham Kittrell. He attended Lexington public schools and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of captain.
He was associated with the U.S. Rubber Co. before becoming a partner with his father in the motor firm.
He was a vice president and director of Delta National Gas Co., a director of the Cape Codder system, a past president of the Lexington Automobile Dealers Association and a former director of the Kentucky Automobile Dealers Association.
He was a member of Maxwell Street Prebyterian Church, Lexington Optimist Club and Delta Chi fraternity.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marie Beckner Kittrell; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald J. Lynn and Miss Lucy Hunter Kittrell; a son, James Bingham Kittrell Jr.; his stepmother, Mrs. J. Ernest Kittrell, and four grandchildren, Lucien Curtis Lynn, William Warren Lynn, Helen Marie Kittrell and Elizabeth Kristine Kittrell, all of Lexington.
Honorary bearers will be Clay M. Brock, J.A. Estes, Alex Herrington, C. Waller Jones, Bruce King, G.Z. Faulconer, Charles Landrum Jr., Earl D. Wallace, Frank L. McVey III, Floyd McCauley, Burt V.
