John De Blauw, 82, of Orange City, died Sunday, October 7, in the Orange City hospital. Services were at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday in Calvary Christian Reformed Church at Orange City. The Rev. John T. Ebbers officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mr. De Blauw was born April 21, 1897, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States with his parents at the age of two. They settled in Michigan. He served in the Army during World War I. In 1920, he moved to the Hospers area.
He married Angeline Mouw, Feb. 23, 1921, at Orange City. They farmed in the Hospers and Orange City area until 1946 when they moved into Orange City where he became a realtor. He retired in 1960. Mrs. de Blauw died March 3, 1966.
He was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church, serving on the church consistory as both elder and deacon for many years. He was a former member of the board of directors of Pioneer Memorial Home and the Orange City Cemetery Association. He had been living at the Pioneer Home for the last year.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Trudy) Muyskens of Spring Lake, Mich., Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Boss of Geneva, Ill., Mrs. C. E. (Audrey) Van Zanten and Mrs. Thomas (Elinor) Noteboom, both of Orange City, Mrs. Don (Mary Ann) Ver Hage of Waupun, Wis., and Mrs. James (Laura) Vermeer of Sioux Center; 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, William of Redlands, Calif., and five sisters, Mrs. John (Sadie) Schuiteman, Mrs. Drys (Tina) Mulder, Mrs. Sid (Kay) Glashower and Mrs. Henry (Henrietta) De Vries, all of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Bill (Jessie) Meengs of Holland, Mich.
