I take my pencilto answer your welcome letter from you.I was glad to read & to learn that you wereall well. This leaves us all well as common.I had decided that you were gone from Batson& waited for some time to get a letter fromsomeone at that town, but none came. The lastI heard from you you had just got up out of aspell of fever & 2 boys down with high fevers& I could not find out whether they got well ornot, I was at Fannie;s today they are well ascommon.Yes, mother is still living. She is 101 years oldlast Oct. 16th. I did not go to see her last year butBro. Tom said she was well & hearty & enjoyedherself fine on her birthday. She seemed to be aswell as any of them and from all appearances mightlive 7 or 8 years more. Hers is a wonderful recordwith 3 soldier boys living.You wanted me to write all about the kids.______mewhat a job 9 granddaughters married, 2 grandsons& several more wants to. Sixteen great grand childrenliving & 7 dead & more on the way. 4 boys & 2 girlshere & 4 or 5 at your home to marry yet. Lord onlyknows. On Mother's 100th birthday there wasby actual count 184 people called her mother--57 sons& daughters & daughters in law making with mother 222.I have the report on my life printed in the Rutherford Sunmade out by F.B. Rankin a Methodist preacher.Mollie's health is improving fast now she is trying acold water bath remedy prescribed by a Memphisman I am living at Mollies. My health has not beengood this last year. I have paid 3 doctors bills &bought more medicine than I ever did in one yearbefore.
