Hosea C. Cook
Hosea C. Cook, 77, of the Mount Vernon community, died Monday, May 29,2000, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach after anillness.
He was born July 31, 1922, in Loris, a son of the late Lyde ValentineCook and Frances Ella James Cook.
He was a tobacco farmer and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Porter Cook; two sons, Vernon Cook andJason Cook, both of Loris; three daughters, Wilma Kay of Cincinnati,Thelma Herring of Whiteville, N.C., and Edna McCormick of Little River;two sisters, Geneva Smith of Loris and Emily Todd of Columbia; 12grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, James Henry Cook.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.The Revs. Earl Elvis and Bill Stinger will officiate. Burial will be inCarter Cemetery.

LORIS, S.C. -- Hosea Cook, 77, died Monday, May 29 at Grand StrandRegional Medical Center of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Born July 31, 1922 in Loris, S.C., he was the son of the late LydeValentine Cook and the late Frances Ella James Cook. He was preceded indeath by one son: James Henry Cook.
He was a tobacco farmer and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Final rites were conducted Thursday, June 1 at 3 p.m. at Mt. VernonBaptist Church by the Reverends Earl Elvis and Bill Stinger. Intermentwas in the Carter Cemetery. Hardwick Funeral Home handled thearrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Porter Cook of Loris, S.C.; two sons:Vernon Cook and Jason Cook, both of Loris, S.C.; three daughters: WilmaKay of Cincinnati, Ohio, Thelma Herring of Whiteville, and Edna McCormickof Little River, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
