I have no sources yet (that I have personally read) on the ancestry ofHenry. Many people (as I had at one time) have him as son of EdmundScott & Joan, with a birthdate of Bef. 1 Nov 1560, while some (as I nowdo) have Henry as son of William Scott & Mary Howard. I believe thatthere was a Henry, born Bef. 1 Nov 1560, son of Edmund & Joan; but thatbirthdate is not the date for Henry son of William & Mary; a date of c1573 (which a few others have) is more appropriate for such a son.
In support of this assumption is the name Henry (after Mary Howard'sgrandfather Henry Cary, and his father Henry VIII), also the fact thatHenry Cary was born in Hengrave, which is near Bury St Edmonds as isBradfield St George, which puts the Cary family in close proximity toHenry Scott's family. There is support for this ancestry for Henry Scottfrom the book "Genesis of the White Family" by E. S. White (see e-mail byEileen Suggs below).

Eileen Suggs, who has researched the Carey line & pointed out thislineage to me, sent the following in an e-mail:
You almost gave me a heart attack this morning. I saw the pedigree youhave for Henry Scott b. 1560 m. to Martha Whatlock and my heart stopped.What you have differs drastically from what I have and to change to yourswould mean wiping out thousands literally of mine. I did havedocumentation on mine ("Genesis of the White Family" by E. S. WhitePublished by Theirnan-Draft Publ., 1920, pg. 175.) I got this at theLibrary of Congress back in 1992. Spent a month there doing research.Well, since E. S. White could be another nobody like me, I thought hecould be wrong and you are correct so I went to work doing furtherresearch. Found it!!! Two sources.
Broderbund Vol # Ed. 1 Tree #3268, Tree 3334, and WFT Vol 22 ed. 1, tree#1426. If you don't have ready access to these sources I will SendGedcom.
Well I will send gedcom if you agree I might be correct.

Also Eileen sent the following e-mail with more information;
Originally I had two wives for William Scott. Mary - No last name, andMary Howard. Henry b. abt 1573 being the son of Mary Howard along withGeorge b. 1583 and Nicholas b 1776. When looking for documentation Ifound only that all nine of Williams Children were attributed to MaryHoward with a marriage date of 1559. Henry's date of birth as 1 nov1560. It then made it impossibe for Mary Howard to have been thedaughter of Charles Howard and Katheryn Carey. Which made me heartsick.So I disconnected them and have been waiting for you to tell me who herparents were. I had Mary born at a later date than Broderbund or WFT aswell. but not as late as 1563. I am sure we can find that historicallythat date is incorrect. It was King Henry who arranged for Katheryn tomarry into the Howard family for wealth (Yes she was his illigitmategrandaughter.) and he died in 1547.
