(5) (6 ) Sometime prior to 29 Feb 1695/6, when a summons was issued to Mr. Hall, the priest living a t St. Inegoes in St. Mary's Co., to appear before the Governor and Council and tell by what a uthority he married them. The priest was able to produce a license from the Anglican ministe r of William and Mary Parish.

(1,3) 1696: Proposed to the Assembly the advantages of a printing press for printing the la ws and offered to send for press and appurtenances if the governor would give his permissio n for their use. Received the sanction of the assembly, council and governor. (8) He was th e first public printer.
(1) 1698: Became clerk of the Governor's Council. Gov. Nicholson wrote to the Board of Trad e that there was a scarcity of good clerks. "Only Mr. Wm. Blaiden whome I have found the mos t capable in all Respects, I have removed from being Clark of the House of Delegates, to tha t of the Council." (2) 1697-1714. (8) Clerk of the Council.

(1,3) 1700, 4 May: Informed officials that "at Great Charge and Trouble" he had finally "pr inting press Letters papers Inck printer &c." For his assistance the assembly passed an ordin ance making obligatory the use of legal papers printed by Bladen and fixing the price. They a rranged to have the "body of Laws" printed so that "every person might easily have them in th eir houses without being troubled to goe to the County Court house." It was also ordered tha t "every County be Oblidged to take one faire Coppy" for which Bladen was to receive 2,000 po unds of tobacco from each county.
(1) The Committee that compared the printed laws with the original found many errors, and B laden was required to have these printed and sent to the counties.

(1,3) Served as Collector of the Port and District of Annapolis, Surveyor of the Port, Regi strar of the Court of Admiralty, clerk of the Free School, Clerk of Council of State at a fe e of 12,000 pounds of tobacco.
(8) 1704: The 2nd vestry of St. Anne's Church, Annapolis, reported by Rev. Topp, its 2nd re ctor, and by Rev. James Wootten, its 3rd, were Col. John Hammond, Mr. William Bladen, Mr. Wil liam Taylord, Mr. Amos Garrett, Mr. John Truman and Mr. Samuel Norwood. The entries upon th e parish records of that date show the church was then finished.
(8) 1706: Margaret Israel, widow of Major Edward Dorsey, sold houses and lots on High Stree t, Annapolis, MD, and a tract called "Dorsey," to William Bladen of Annapolis, MD. "Dorsey" w as originally 60 acres, part of a grant to Dorsey's father, Edward Dorsey the immigrant, an d Capt. John Norwood, on the south side of the Severn on Dorsey's Creek.
(1,2) 1707: Attorney-general of MD. (1) Salary was 100 pounds a year.
(2) 1708: Architect of State House.
(7) 1712/3, 17 Feb: Mary Vansweringen of St. Maryes Co., widow, wrote her will. Gives to so n-in-law Mr. William Bladen and daughter Bladen a "Ring of thirty shillings price to each o f them."
(2,6) 1714: Commissary General of MD. (6) Was Commissary at the time of his death in 1718.
(4) Through the years acquired many tracts in Annapolis and in the outlying regions.
(4) Deeded lot 27 in Annapolis to Benjamin and Anne Tasker "in consideration of the natura l love and affection he beareth Anne... and also of the friendship he beareth to the said Ben jamin."
(4) 1721: Benjamin Tasker Sr. purchased from his estate lots 36 and 37 in Annapolis, MD. Be njamin had power of attorney settle the estate, and moved into William's former home on lot 3 6.
