Sometime after the Civil War Robert moved to Edgefield District SC. He married after April 1814 and before 1818 in SC. He moved with the wife Elizabeth Roberts (the widow of Dudley Roberts) to Russell Co., AL in 1840.
It is unknown if he had children with Elizabeth. In the 1850 census were listed the two oldest children of Robert and Amanda.
Robert served as a Private in the Company commanded by Capt. McIntosh U. S. Fencibles in the War of 1812. He applied for and received a land grant for 160 acres of bounty land in Russell Co., Alabama.
His second wife Sarah A. Carlisle, age 51, described him in the application for a widow's pension as five feet 10 inches high, light sandy hair, eyes blue. He was a farmer and was born in North Carolina. He died at age 86.
A Robert Carlisle witnessed a conveyance from. Alexander Stephenson (Brunswick Co) to Hardy Benton on 2 Feb 1798. If it is for this Robert Carlisle he must have been born earlier than the 1792 shown in records. Most likely this was an other Robert Carlisle.
His places of residence were North Carolina, Edgefield District, South Carolina and Russell and Choctaw counties Alabama.
Robert Carlisle was a pensioner with Certificate No. 21728 or his declaration bore that no.
