Mr. Fred Phelps. 87, 265 Hwy 192 passed away Saturday December 15, 2001 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born November 2, 1914 in the Bent Community, a son of the late Grover C. Phelps and Emily (Kenney) Phelps. He was a farmer, an employee of the Pulaski County Board of Education, a Pulaski County Magistrate for 12 years and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons; Wayne Lee (and Nadine) Phelps, Bent Community, Wade (and Janet) Phelps, Shopville, Ky., J. E. (and Doshia) Phelps, St. Paul, In., Winford (and Linda) Phelps, Somerset, Ky. and Murrell Ray Phelps, Somerset, Ky.: three brothers; Edward Phelps, Shelbyville, In., Bob Phelps, Franklin, In. and Gene Phelps, Greenwood, In.: two sisters; Wilma Vanhook, Somerset, Ky. and Mildred Slavey, Somerset, Ky.: 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; His wife, Mary Ellen (Ridner) Phelps whom he married on May 12, 1938 in East Somerset, Ky. and who passed away on August 22, 2000; three brothers; Murrell, Ollie and Earl Phelps: two sisters; Alta McClone and Ethel Hargis: one grandson; James Fred Phelps.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday December 17, 2001 at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Dale Adkins officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Thicket Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. at the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home .
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Pine Thicket Cemetery.

Edward Wayne Phelps
Edward Wayne Phelps, 84, formerly of Pulaski County, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon, Indiana.
Mr. Phelps was born in Bent, Kentucky, and was the son of Grover and Sarah Emily (Keeney) Phelps. He married Betty Johnson of Pulaski County, Kentucky on June 26, 1954. The couple then resided in Shelbyville, Indiana. She preceded him in death March 8, 2011.
Mr. Phelps was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he became a woodworker and spent his career as a cabinetmaker for television manufacturers. He retired from RCA Corporation in May of 1994. Mr. and Mrs. Phelps were active in several civic organizations in Shelbyville, Indiana, including American Legion Post #70, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Phelps lived at Parkwood Health Care Center since Mrs. Phelps died. His family is grateful for the care and attention he received while at Parkwood.
Mr. Phelps is survived by their two daughters, Judith Ann (and Brent) Bastin, of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Jolene (and John) Ketzenberger, of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren, Aaron, Adam and Jane Ketzenberger; and his sister, Mildred (and Carl) Slavey, of Somerset.
Mr. Phelps’ six brothers and three of his sisters have preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, March 22, 2014. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00pm at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Pine Thicket Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Pine Thicket Cemetery Fund.
