DICK, Nancy Jean Phelps, Bond Street, left this earthly abode for her heavenly home on Tuesday, the 16th day of August, 2005. Born in Science Hill, May 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Earl C. and Grace Edyth Cain Phelps. She was 75 years of age. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in February, 1944m and he service to the Lord continued as long as she was physically able. As a charter member of Northside Baptist Church, she served as both GA leaders and Youth Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was very active in the Women’s Missionary Union. She began her banking career at People’s Bank, Science Hill, worked there until her retirement in 1994 from what had later become First and Farmers national Bank; she served as the Science Hill Branch Manager for many years. She was a long time, hard working member of the Science Hill Garden Club and served many terms as club treasurer. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Thomas Dick, whom she married on November 10, 1950 in Science Hill; one daughter, Sonya Karen Morris, her husband, James “Chief” Morris, and a granddaughter; Amanda Karen Morris, all of Science Hill. Also, surviving are two brothers, Dale (Carol) Phelps, Tullahoma, Tennessee and David (Carolyn) Phelps, Science Hill; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Lou) Dick and Ronnie (Mary Ellen) Dick, all of Science Hill; three sisters-in-law, Glenice (Bobby) Harness, Science Hill, Bernice (Jim) Broyles, Lexington, KY, and Rissie Dick, Melbourne, FL. Special cousins, Peggy (Victor) Vaught and Dorothy Ashley, both of Science Hill, a loving caregiver, Ruth Sage, Somerset, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Johnny C. Dick, and her mother-in-law, Ida M. Randolph Dick. Two brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also preceded her In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Science Hill Garden Club, P.O. Box 186, Science Hill, Kentucky or the Northside Baptist Church building fund. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2005 at Northside Baptist Church with Brother Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
