Hetook part in Simon de -Montfort's rebellion, and was summoned toParliament 24 December 1264, by writ directed Waltero de Colevilla, whichwrit however, having issued in rebellion, should not create a peeragedignity. He was taken prisoner at Kenilworth in 1264, by Prince Edward, and his lands forfeited, but they were redeemed, and he was possessed ofthem at his death.
He married Isabel or Elizabeth (e). He died 1277, before 2 September, when the writ for his Ing. p. m. is dated. [Complete Peerage III:374,(transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
(e) Aubourn, Counthorpe, and other of his manors, co. Lincoln, werecommitted, 25 Oct 1265, to Isabel late (sic) the wife of Walter deColeville; where also, 20 Feb 1265/6, is a grant of lands in Aubourn toElizabeth, wife of Walter de Colveville, the King's enemy who is inprison. Elizabeth and Isabel are here merely different forms of the samename, and the word "late" in the first passage is an error. V.G.
