To Beverly Przybylski:
Greetings Cousin!
I descend from Wiley Combest's sister Mary Eveline Combest who married Levi Osborn son of Elijah Osborn and Mary Warren. Elijah Osborn and Mary Warren, a daughter of James Warren lived on the Green River Knob on the Casey and Pulaski County line near Mintonville, Kentucky. Most of their children left Kentucky migrating to Montgomery County, Illinois in the 1820s and 1830s where some stayed and others moved on to new lands in northwest Missouri. It appears as if the Green River Knob residence of the Mary Eveline Combest's father in law and mother in law was very close to the land description of Wiley Combest's land designated in his Will in 1869 outline in SAMUEL COMBEST AND HIS DESCENDANTS, by H. Jane Barnes Smith and Patricia Osborn Olmstead. I tried to answer your inquiry about Wiley Combest's place of birth and burial location using the book. I have not found a specified location for either one using the book. I can only find his birth recorded as Kentucky and his death recorded as Kentucky. Brothers John, William James and Samuel D. Combest are all recorded as being born in Pulaski County, Kentucky. They were born between 1801 and 1808. The other children Nancy born on January 18, 1806, Mary Eveline born on January 8, 1810, Alexander born on November 3, 1811, Margaret born on November 27, 1813, Wiley born on December 23, 1815, and Archibald born on March 16, 1818 were only recorded as born in Kentucky by Jane Barnes Smith. In regard to Wiley's burial, I do believe, however that if my recollection is correct, that I have visited his grave, with a group from the Combest Family Association of Pulaski County, Kentucky. About 10 years ago as part of the Family Reunion a Combest and Associated Family Cemetery Tour was conducted. The tour covered a lot of cemeteries including Old Sardis where Revolutionary War Soldier Sgt. John Dick and Margaret Peggy Wylie his wife are buried, plus the grave of Margaret Combest Bohmer, the ancestor of U. S. Congressman, Larry Combest. A third cemetery that I can remember is one in Nancy, Kentucky. Someone in the Combest Family Association should be able to specify where Wiley Combest is buried. I will try to get your questions answered.
Best Wishes,
Jim Osborne
