The Dean Family History Book - traces the family through James Deen Sr.
the son of Shadrick Jr.
This Book was written from information collected from Ann Bartle who has
been tracing the Dean Family for over 11 years. Other information was
obtained from the Scott County Recorder's Office. The family stories
toldin the book are from some old family members and old family friends
and neighbors. Some of the old folks who I have talked to are old as 88
to 98. Youwill notice in the book that the Dean name was spelled 'Deen'
until the min 1800's.

his wife Mourning settled in Jackson County Georgia. Shad raised their
family there.

gave him all the money she had ($12.00) and a few pieces of jewelry and
told him to flee from theCaravan. He did and managed to find his way
back to his folks after severalyears of wandering the countryside.
Shadrick Deen's grandson, James Deen, wasmarried 3 times and fathered 20
children. His second marrage was to Charlotte Noggle. This is our
Family Line.
The Deen's were a strange family. They kept to themselves. They usually
