Mr. Everette Hamrick, 82, of 1250 Maple Springs Church Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Hospice at Wendover.Born on July 1, 1922, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Bezola and Bue Hamrick. He was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and served in the Army. He retired from the cotton warehouse business, where he was employed for 48 years. He was a lifelong cattle farmer and took great pride in raising beef cattle, which was his main hobby and pastime.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma McSwain and Irene Padgett.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lura Kendrick Hamrick of the home; two sons, William Hamrick and wife, Jean, and Richard Hamrick and wife, Vanda, all of Shelby; five grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Hamrick and Dana, Craig Hamrick and Andrea, Lynn Hamrick Hawkins and Jamey, Kelly Rauf and Bobby and Lewis Childers, all of Shelby; seven great-grandchildren, Caroline Hamrick, McKinsey Hamrick, Clayton Hamrick, Leanna Hamrick, Jaye Hawkins, Josh Hawkins and Brianna Hawkins, all of Shelby; four sisters, Lena McSwain, Thelma Hoyle, Mildred Reynolds and husband, L.D., and Frances Barber, all of Shelby; and a brother, David Hamrick and wife, Johnnie, of Shelby.The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with Drs. Rick Prassell and Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
