Sarah Caroline Peck was born November 06, 1834; died January 23, 1891 in Dresden, TN; married Joseph Green Thomason October 13, 1851 in Weakley Co, TN. She was daughter of John Peck and Temperance Amanda Crawford. He was born July 24, 1825, in Henry Co. TN, and died July 23, 1894. He and his wife are buried in Sunset Cemetery.

Thomason was a merchant in Gleason and was elected circuit court clerk in 1860, a term interrupted by service in the Confederate Army. After serving with the Confederate Army he moved to Dresden, in 1870, TN and was elected to the first of a number of terms as circuit court clerk.

The 1860 Census of Tennessee, shows J.G. Thomason, age 35, in Weakley County (357-436) with Sarah, age 26, and three children: Emma, age 7; Mary, 5; and Clinton A., age 6/12. Sarah Caroline's sister, Temperance Peck, age 21, is living with the family.

She married Elijah Hanes Ayres 23 November 1876 in Dresden, TN. He was born in Edge Hill, Buckingham Co, VA.
He followed his older brother, Judge Samuel Bransford Ayres to Dresden in 1870. He became station agent for the North Carolina and St. Louis Railroad in Dresden and subsequently moved to Spring Hill, Tennessee where he was founder and president of the Spring Hill Bank.
After Lela May's death, of parturition problems, Elijah married his cousin Josephine Hamilton Hanes and they had three children: Thomas Blackwell (7/29/1893-2/8/1902); William Leake (7/29/1895-6/24/1896) and Martha Josephine, born April 22, 1906, married to Wharton Cheairs. Children of Lela Thomason and Elijah Ayres are:

Paul Bransford Ayres, born 4 September 1877; died 10 Junho 1878.
Carrie Louise Ayres, born 23 May 1880. She married John Beckwith. Had no children.
Laurence Thomason Ayres, born 28 July 1882; died 19 March 1940. He was educated at Branham & Hughes Academy, Springhill, Tennessee and was founder of the First National Bank in Arkansas Pass, San Patricio, Texas. He married Priscilla Douglas Lovell 1912. Two children.
Elijah Hanes Ayres Jr., born 12 March 1885; died 3 October 1965. He attended Branham & Hughes Academy, Springhill, Tennessee and entered the family banking business. Later he became an executive with Commerce Union Bank. He married Hattie McGavock 30 April 1908 at Carnton, the McGavock family home, in Franklin, Tennessee. She was born 6 April 1884, at Carnton, and was the daughter of Winder and Susie Ewing McGavock. Hattie was educated at the Franklin Female Institute. Three children.
John Garland Ayres, born 27 April 1889; died Junho 1936. He married Virginia Denison. They had no children

She married Allen Clark Johnson, Sr. 18 December 1895. He was born 8 February 1867, and died 13 August 1921.
They lived in Chattanooga, TN. Stella was described as a talented musician and universally admired as a woman of charm and great beauty. Allen Johnson owned hardwae stores in Mufreesboro and Chattanooga, TN, They are buried at the Johnson Family plot at Mt Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN.
We have a letter written by Stella Thompson Johnson, the last surviving child in her family, in 1937, to her first cousin Hellen Virginia Steagall, in Brazil. This letter tells a little about her husband and children. She was living at Chattanooga, TN, with Katherine at that time. Margaret Holland, querying about Delia's ancestry, replied this letter two years later; however, we do not have the answer to this reply.

Katherine Caroline Johnson, born 3 September 1900 in Detroit, TX; died March 1955. She married Thomas Turley Rankin 31 August 1931. He was born about 1895. They had one daughter.
Allen Clark Johnson, Jr., born 16 October 1911 in 12 of January; died 4 May 1975. He married Leriel Annette Robertson 4 September 1943. Three children.

In 1820 he left his native State and came to Rutherford County, Tenn., where he married Elizabeth Smith the same year of his arrival. He resided in Henry and Weakley Counties the remainder of his days and died in the latter county in August, 1881. He was magistrate of his district in Henry County for about twenty-three years, and was a man of sound judgment and true worth. His wife was born in North Carolina in 1802, and came to Tennessee in 1820. She is yet living, and although in her eighty-fifth year, is in good health. Of their nine children, seven are living. J. G. Thomason was educated in Henry County, and at the age ,of twenty began clerking in a dry goods store. In 1845 he was elected constable of the Tenth District and served four years. October 18, 1851, he married Sarah C. Peck, born in Weakley County, in 1834. They have five children: Temperance E. (Mrs. Robert Carman), Lela May (Mrs. E. H. Ayers), John P., Sarah G. and Stella. In 1852 Mr.Thomason moved to Weakley County and began merchandising in Gleason. In 1854 he bought a farm and followed tilling the soil for seventeen years. He was elected circuit court clerk of Weakley County in 1860, but in the spring of 1861 raised Company G, Fifty-first Tennessee Infantry, and was elected captain. He was at Shiloh, Perryville and in numerous severe skirmishes, and in 1863 was captured near his home and taken to Johnson's Island, where he was retained three months. Loretta Young was related fairly closely to my family of Thomasons from West Tennessee in Dyersburg via Weakley County.
My gg grandfather was Joseph Green Thomason who married a Caroline Peck. I'm sure there are others, could someone help out here?
