MOULTRIE — Louise Kittrell Tolar died Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Legacy Village at Park Regency, Moultrie, Georgia. She was 85 years old.
A 1946 graduate of Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida, she had a long, successful civil service career working for the National Park Service and the Department of the Army Florida National Guard. Mrs. Tolar was a life-long Southern Baptist belonging to Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Faith Baptist Church in Madison, and Calvary Baptist Church in Moultrie. She was a founding member of Anastasia Baptist Church in Saint Augustine and sang in its choir. She took particular interest in the WMU and enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible Schools and mission trips. Mrs. Tolar was active in the Ponce de Leon chapter of the American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA) during the many years she lived and worked in Saint Augustine.
Mrs. Tolar was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Andrew Tolar; her daughter, Beverly Tolar Braswell; her brother, Joe Kittrell; and her parents, Clyde Kittrell and Lila Bradshaw Kittrell.
She is survived by her son, Paul Tolar and his wife Patricia of Moultrie, Georgia; her daughter, Pamela Tolar Johnson and her husband Mark of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; her son-in-law, Steve Braswell of Mayo, Florida; her seven grandchildren and their families, Buck Braswell and his wife Vickie of Douglasville, Georgia, Lance Braswell and his wife Holly of Mayo, Florida, Kirstin Johnson Fritz and her husband Paul of Charlottesville, Virginia, Drew Johnson DC and Amanda Koenig of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Lydia Johnson Grady and her husband Jim of Elkins, West Virginia, Samuel Johnson, also of Harpers Ferry, and Anna Hall and her husband Jim of Atlanta, Georgia; and her six great-grandchildren, Emilee Braswell, Laura Braswell, Blake Braswell, Mia Braswell, Alexander Fritz, and Gideon Fritz. Mrs. Tolar is also survived by four brothers and sisters, Broward Kittrell, Doris Love, Wynell DuPree, and Jim Kittrell.
Friends may call at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road, Saturday, June 20, from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Culley’s MeadowWood Chapel with interment following in Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
