Ruby M. Skaug, 83, of Eagle, died Sunday, March 3, 1991, at home of a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the Eagle First Baptist Church. Pastors Normal Revels and Chester Sager will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. March 11 at the Harrison Cemetery, Harrison, Idaho. The Rev. Jack O'Neil [sic] of Harrison First Baptist Church will officiate. Services are now under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Chapel, Boise.
Mrs. Skaug, a pastor's wife and homemaker, was born November 11, 1907, at Akeley, Minnesota. She received her schooling in northern Minnesota, where she graduated from Aitkin High School as class valedictorian in 1926. Ruby later graduated from teachers' training school and taught elementary school in a one-room school house in Minnesota. She married Merrill Skaug on December 25, 1928, at Aitkin, Minn. They later moved west where she served as a pastor's wife in churches in Oregon, Washington, Montana and Idaho. Mrs. Skaug was an accomplished musician. She was a church organist at the age of nine and served as a pianist and organist until recent years.
She was a member of the Eagle Baptist Church. Until her death she was active in Christian work and confident in her personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ruby had an acute knowledge and interest of world affairs and national politics. She was an avid gardener throughout her life.
Survivors include two sons, Byron Skaug of LaMine, Colombia, and formerly of Eugene, Ore., and Joe Skaug of Jerome, Idaho; a daughter, Caroline Catling, of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Eileen Norwood of Missouri [sic], Texas, Genevieve Graffe of Puyallup, Wash., and Carmen Lidstrom of Sumner, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Bruce, who was killed in a military air crash in Guam, and Hugh, who died in infancy; a sister and two brothers.
The family suggests memorials be made to Boise Rescue Mission, 520 Front, Boise, 83702; or the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, New York 10023.
