Obit: Mrs. Bonnie Little Evans, 54, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Obit: The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Philip Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Obit: Bonnie, who was born in Bethesda, N.C., attended Wingate College for two years and then transferred to East Carolina University, where she received a degree in police sciences in 1973 and began working as a security officer and did public relations for North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. After taking a 160-hour basic police science course, she interned as a probation officer with the North Carolina Probation Department.
Obit: Bonnie then went on to make her mark in North Carolina history as the first female inspector for enforcement and theft. When she married in 1977, Bonnie began working for Pitt County's Probation and Parole Department and received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from the state of North Carolina when she retired in 2003. During her retirement, Bonnie volunteered for Pitt County Memorial Hospital and taught Sunday School for the teenagers and served as president of the women's auxiliary for Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church.
Obit: Bonnie will forever be remembered for her ability to make people smile and to leave a lasting impression with every person she met. Her generous spirit was her trademark; she was always more concerned for the needs of others than herself, even during the most trying times of her life.
Obit: She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Strickland Little, in 1966. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Jimmy; her daughter, Cristan of the home; her parents, Bruce and Gerrie Lou Little of Durham; three brothers and three sisters, Dwight Little and wife, Janet, of Durham, Dr. Gray Little and wife, Paula, of Asheville, Dr. Bo Little and wife, Kelly, of Concord, Karen Outland, and husband, Dr. Randy Outland, of Kinston, Pattie Montgomery and husband, Ron, of Raleigh, and Luanne Goodfellow and husband, John, of Durham.

Evans of Greenville; brother-in-law, Eddie Evans of Farmville; sister-in-law, Shirley Denton and husband, Steve, of Greenville; and two nieces and six nephews, Blake Evans Whaley and husband, Nick, of Greenville, Laura Outland of Kinston, Joshua Little of Concord, Paul Outland of Kinston, Ben and Andy Little of Asheville, Bradley Denton of Greenville and Bobby Denton and wife, Mindy, of Greenville; and four aunts, Laverne Johnston of Columbia, S.C., Ann Jones and husband, Pete, of Durham, Sandra Larke of Palm Beach, Fla., and Carolyn Perry and husband, J. Wesley, of Durham.
