Born in 1760 in the Kingdom of Ireland, County of Antrium. Christen in most of his life in Chester Co., SC on Rocky Creek. He died in 1835. Buried 1835 in Chester County, SC.
Application for Pension #S21892 (Dec 1832) @ 72.
A Revolutionary Soldier, severely wounded at the Battle of Hanging Rock. He applied for pension on dec 19, 1832 due to the injury he suffered at the battle of Hanging Rock, at which time he it is believed to be 72 yrs old. In this document he states, "I was born, and I have been told, in the Kingdom of Ireland, County of Antrium, in the year of 1760"...."I have no record of my age"....I was living in the state of South Carolina, then Craven County, now Chester District when called into service and have lived in the same place since, and live there now,"..... etc.
Joseph Morrow made a will, dated 8-2-1831, which was probated 12-1-1835, in which he named his wife, Jane; and his four daughters: Sarah White, Betsy Wylie, and Polly Thomas; sons Joseph Morrow, William W. Morrow, and David Morrow. (A son, John is not named in the will, but family members list such a son, who may have been married prior to this will and settlement already made to hinm).
In his will he states that his son, Joseph Morrow(Jr.) was to receive "the west end or side of my plantation....."provided he, the said Joseph Morrow, Jr. provide his mother, Jane, with a comfortable support during her natural life, either with him or with any of the other children she chooses.
He Married Jane Wiley, daughter of William Wiley and Sarah (Dunn), in 1787. Born 1762 in Ireland or Chester Co., SC.
After the death of his father, his Mother, Jane Wylie Morrow moved with Joseph Jr. and family to central Mississippi. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. His family along with several other Scots/Irish families relocated about the same time (when the Indian territories opened in Alabama and Mississippi) where other family members had settled to Perry County, Alabama Whether or not Jane Wylie Morrow stayed in Perry County with other members of the family or died enroute to Neshoba County in 1841 is unknown.
Joseph Jr. first paid taxes in Neshoba County, Ms in 1839. He could have been there a year earlier.
He and brother David settled southwest od Dixon, Neshoba Co., Ms and owned a large farm. Joseph Jr. reared nine known children and one grandaughter. A cemetery (Morrow Memorial) was established on his land.
