'Hook' Montanye
Rural Grove -- Paul E. 'Hook' Montanye, 79, of Brand Road, died Thursday [22 Aug 1996] at home after a short illness.
Born in Charleston Four Corners, Mr. Montanye was educated at the Charleston Four Corners country schools. He was a construction worker with several local companies and retired from Lancaster Development Co. in Cobleskill in 1980.
Mr. Montanye was of the Protestant faith. He was a lifetime charter member of the Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department and served as its chief.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Belenic Montanye, whom he married Dec. 16, 1944; two sons, Douglas P. Montanye of Canajoharie and Lawrence W. Montanye of Sprakers; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Christian Church Cemetery, Charleston Four Corners. ; Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
