"The Book of Josephus" by John Jay Burnet gives the Bible record for this family. It looks in that Bible record as if Randolph is named Abraham Randolph rather than Markham Randolph.
Randolph Montanye sold land to John Suffern on 3 July 1826. [Rockland County Records, New City, NY Book E-227.]
He must have died as a relatively young man, since Daniel Ayres does not even mention Randolph in his diary.
In the Diary of Daniel Ayres (1790-1872) [now in the possession of Jim Hoe, 446 Newtown Turnpike, Weston, CT 06883] Daniel Ayres described his relatives:
[page 254] "John J. Montanye is alluded to on pages 250 and 251; he married my Father's half-sister Martha Strockem & their children [were] 3 sons and 5 daughters.
[page 250] "The Montanye children were 3 sons and 5 daughters, viz, Joseph, John J., Ferdinand [sic]; Phebe Sally, Jannette, Martha, and Nancy. Joseph was a captain in the army in the War of 1812; John J. a respectable blacksmith; Ferdinand [sic], member of Congress." [Note: Ferdinand is presumably a mistake for Frederick, but it was James who was the member of Congress.]
