Extract from the New York "World" of the 19th of April 1894: "Heir to $300,000. Missing". (by Associated Press).
"Springfield, Ohio, April 18, 1894. --W.L. Carbin, who after trouble with his employer, left Xenia a short time ago, is being anxiously sought for by relatives. Carbin came from Holland, and an uncle, for whom he was named, has died in East Indies, leaving him about $300,000. No clue to his whereabouts has yet been obtained".
This William Louis Carbin (in Dutch: Willem Lodewijk Carabain)lived in New York. It was a sad story, because the wrong W.L. Carbin (a cousin, originally called van der Ploeg) took the inheritance. I wonder if these Carbins have descendants in America and is there anyone who can tell me how to get hold of a copy of the advertisement?.

"William Louis Carbin was my great grandfather. I believe this to be the same one we are talking about here. My father's name is Vincent, his fathers name is Vincent and his father was William.
I know My grandfather Vincent had quite a few brothers, but I would have to talk to my dad to clarify this. I know of James, Ray and Mick only! [...] Anyway, my grandparents Vincent and Margaret lived in Millstone, NJ. My grandfather Vincent which would be Williams son, started the Millstone Fire department with his brother...Not sure if it was Ray or Mick or James. "
