Alfons II van Provence (?, 1180 - Palermo , 2 februari 1209 ) was een zoon van koning Alfons II van Aragón en van Sancha van Castilië . Hij volgde zijn vader in 1196 op als graaf van Provence. Alfons was gehuwd met Gersindis van Sabran , de kleindochter en erfgename van Willem , laatste graaf van Forcalquier. Bij haar huwelijk kreeg zij Forcalquier van haar grootvader. Nadien herriep Willem II van Forcalquier de schenking ten voordele van Gersindes zuster, Beatrix, die gehuwd was met Andreas van Bourgondië , dauphin van Viennois. Hierdoor barstte een oorlog uit tussen Alfons en Willem , waarbij de laatste gesteund werd door de graaf van Toulouse. Alfons doet beroep op zijn broer Peter II van Aragón , die naar Provence komt om een verdrag te onderhandelen, dat in 1202 wordt afgesloten. In 1209 begeleidt hij zijn zuster Constance , de weduwe van koning Emmerik van Hongarije , om haar te laten trouwen met koning Frederik van Sicilië , maar sterft in Palermo . Alfons was een grote liefhebber van het ridderschap en nodigde vele troubadours uit aan zijn hof. Een van hen was Elias van Barjols, zoon van handelaar uit Payols in Agénois . Hij viel niet alleen in de smaak van de graaf, maar ook van de gravin, die het onderwerp was van vele van zijn liederen.
