It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Renske, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She leaves to mourn her husband of 56 years, Elmer, three daughters, Tina (Bob) Doepker of Winnipeg, Barbara (Frank) Froese of Winkler, Sandra (John)(Charlie) Braun of Winkler; two sons, Larry (Donna) Dew of Vancouver, BC and Ernie (Vera) Dew of Winnipeg; three brothers, Bill (Olive) Boersma of Neepawa, Sy (Janet Armstrong) Boersma of Calgary, AB, John (Elaine) Hoogland of Winnipeg and two sisters, Hinke (Troy) Koch of Calgary, AB and Afke (Fred) Durkee of Winnipeg. She also leaves to mourn 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Renske was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Tryntje Boersma, stepfather, Herman Hoogland, son, Ronald and great grandson, Jordan.
Renske was born in Friesland, Netherlands and came to Canada at the age of 16 with her family. They lived in Clearwater, MB and later moved to a farm in Crystal City, MB. Renske and Elmer were married on April 22, 1955 and lived on Elmer's family farm in Snowflake, MB. In July of 1972, when they moved their family to Morden, MB, Renske worked at the Morden Sewing Factory for several years and then did custom sewing until she retired. Sewing was her passion and she also loved to crochet and made many dollies and tablecloths for her children and grandchildren until her hands where stricken with arthritis. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden, MB. Interment will follow at a later date at Snowflake Cemetery.
We as a family would like to thank the many homecare workers, the staff at Morden Tabor Home and the doctors and nurses at Boundary Trails Health Center for their excellent care over the last months and to Wiebe Funeral home for all the arrangements. We as a family would also like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Vincent for his many visits with Mom during her time at Tabor Home.
