* In the name of God Amen. Of Edward Huffam, of the parish of St Nicholas at wade in the Isle of Thanet Kent Gent. being weak and sick in body but of perfect and good memory thanks be to Almighty God, therefore I do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament as followeth viz. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my creator and to Christ my redeemer and to the Holy Ghost my sanctifier. As concerning my temporal and worldly effects in this life I bequeath them in manner and form following. First I give and bequeath xxxx Huffam one of the daughter of Thomas Huffam my brother the sum of £10 of lawful money of England to be paid unto her or her heirs within 10 years next after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto Bennett Huffam Mary and Martha Huffam 3 others of the daughters of my said brother Thomas Huffam the sum of xxx pounds apiece of like lawful money to be paid each of them severally when they each come to age 18 years. If any of them depart this life before 18 of age then my will is the survivor or survivors have the legacies of the deceased. If it should happen that all 3 should die then I will their brother George shall receive and enjoy the legacies that were bequeathed to Bennett Mary and Martha. I give and bequeath to the said George Huffam my nephew £20 of lawful money of England to be paid to him when he is 21 of age. Item, I give and bequeath unto Richard Huffam one of the other sons of my brother Thomas £10 to be paid him at age 21, if deemed unfit (physically or mentally) then his brother George shall have the government of the £10 and pay to Richard the use and profits of it for Richard's natural life - should Richard die, George shall have the legacy.

I give unto Elizabeth, now wife of John Wheeler of Sandwich mariner the sum of £5 to be paid unto her heirs within 10 next after my decease. I give unto Susan now wife of William May of Ash next Sandwich yeoman £5 to be paid her heirs within 10 years after my decease.

I give and bequeath unto Mary now wife of Robert Marsh of xxx Yeoman £5 to be paid unto her or her heirs anytime within 10 years of my decease. I give to my niece Mercy Sampson £5 to be paid her or her heirs within 10 years of my decease. I give and bequeath to Edward Payne and his wife of Sandwich between them 40/- to be paid them within 3 months after my decease and I give unto Bridget niece of the said Edward Payne 10/- to be paid as my executor shall think most fit. I give unto the poor of the parish of St Nicholas at Wade 20/- to be distributed equally and paid among the poorest sort of people of the said xxx within one year after my decease/.Item, whereas Thomas Paramour of Mountain in the Isle of Thanet esq. hath now lately purchased of me Edward Huffam one piece of marshland known as apendum ( if my brother Thomas or any of his children refuse to give deed and title to Thomas Paramour or if either of their executors decline to then none of the living children of Thomas Huffam shall inherit any of the legacies Edward bequeathed to them) lastly, I bequeath unto Mercy Huffam my sister late wife of my brother Stephen Huffam all my goods household moveable land farm and farms money whatsoever to me due and do nominate and appoint her to be my sole executor instructing her to give the legacies in this will and to discharge my funeral charges. I witness whereof I have here unto put my hand and seal dated xxx day of August ad 1630.

( A codicil noncupative follows in which some of the witnesses discuss a portion of the will ask questions pass opinions delve into family matters etc. Edward tells them he understands what he is doing and his will stands as it is or words to that effect a full page of no value genealogically.
