Public Record: Harding, William H, Warranty Deed (Deed of Conveyance) 1856 abstract This Indenture made and entered into this day of March A.D. 1856 by and between William H. Harding and Marion Harding of the county of Fremont and state of Iowa partys of the first part and Solomon Stout of the county of Freemont and state of Iowa party of the second part , witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of one -hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt which is hereby acknowledged by the parts of the first part hath this day sold an by these (those) presents (presence) do hereby convey , alien and confirm unto the party of the second, and to his heirs and assigns forever the following piece, tract or parcel of land being and lying in the county of Fremont and State of Iowa and more particularly knowned and described as follows, to wit, the South half of the S.E. 1/4 of the quarter of Section NO. 18 in Township No. 69, north of Range No 41 W containing twenty acres be the same More or Less. To have and hold the same with all the appertances whereto belonging And the partys of the first part doth covenant with the said party of the second part, that they will forever warrant and defend the title in fee simple against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof the partys' of the first part having set our hands and seals the day and year first above written. William H. Harding & Marion his wife, to known to be the identical persons described in and who executed the foregoing conveyance and acknowledged that they executed the she said Marion Harding being by me and acquainted with the contents of said deed and (not decernable) apart from her husband declared that she executed the same freely and voluntarily and that she relinquishes her dowry to the real estate therein mentioned without any compulsion of her husband. William Harvey Harding Revisited or Journey of It must have been a difficult experience when William Harvey landed in America (New York), after being in a stowaway aboard ship from Liverpool. He would have been fifteen years old in 1840. It is not known where he met his first love, Marion Elizabeth, and it is also not known where he lived, four years prior to to his union with Elizabeth. Probably he met her in New York, because that is where she was born, she was probably a house maid. "What am I going to do now," he probably said, I need to find a mate, because with my record I won't be able to function." We do know thy bought some property and lived together in Iowa Territory. Records show a William Harvey Harding and wife Marion in the County of Fremont, Iowa in 1860. We do have two copies of Warranty Deeds showing the sale of property by the two to 1. Solomon Stout "in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars" in 1856; 2. James Hodges "in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars" in 1858. William's live spanned two states, New YORK and Iowa, while his generation that followed spanned eight states; California, Washington, Wyoming, Iowa, Ohio, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah. In speculation we do know that young William knew had to find somebody so in retrospect he chose the female Marion Elizabeth to help him in this new land. Bart W Bronson Third great grand son in-law
