RACINE - William Joseph 'Bill' Van Offeren, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center. William was born in Milbank, S.D. March 6, 1916, son of the late Morris and Nettie (nee: Spanjers) Van Offeren and was a resident of Racine since 1937. On July 16, 1938, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Racine, he was united in marriage to Vila V. Kasuske. William was employed by Walker Manufacturing for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a Boy Scout Leader for many years, and a faithful Cub fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Vila; his children, Willanetta Kittel, Shirley (Charles) Leonard, Eileen Camponeschi, William L. (Karen) Van Offeren, Marilou (Jerry) Hipper, Lee (Gary) VanHulle; 18 grandchildren, James (Leslie Ehlert) Emmerling, Brian (Sue Korek) Leonard, Karen (Jason) Greenwood, Kevin (Wendy Suyama) Leonard, Paul (Jenny) Camponeschi, Amy Camponeschi, Lisa Camponeschi, Jamie (Eugene) Syvrud, William P., Jeremiah, Joni (David Garrison), and Michael Van Offeren, Cynthia (Craig) Driggers, Jerome P. (Amanda) Hipper, Susan (Michael) Frost, Luke, Scott, and Cheri Van Hulle; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Danielle Emmerling, Andrea, Jayden, and Ariana Van Offeren, Jerome E. Hipper; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends; and his faithful dog, Taffy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronald Kittel; brother, Leo, who was killed in World War II; five sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, Monday, February 14, 2005, 10 a.m. with Rev. Paul M. Esser officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. (Rosary recited at 4:45 p.m.) and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Goodrich, the second floor nursing staff at St. Mary's Medical Center, and Oak Ridge Care Center for their loving and compassionate care.
