  SALT LAKE CITY ÿ Jan Hendrik Bessembinders, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Salt Lake City on June 13, 2000, with his family at his side.
  
  Jan (John) was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Onstwedde, The Netherlands, to Hendrikje Harmine and Berend Bessembinders. He married Alida Jacoba Zeeman on Oct. 23, 1956.
  
  John served as an officer in the Royal Dutch Airforce and attended engineering school. He and Alida joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and, with their three young children, immigrated to British Columbia, Canada and later, to Logan, Utah. He was an employee of Utah State University in their heating and air conditioning department for over 20 years.
  
  After his retirement, he and Alida served a mission in their Netherlands.
  
  John and Alida had seven children, six living. He is survived by Bert (Lynn) Bessembinders, Petronella (Klare) Oliver, Hendrik (Debbi) Bessembinders, Jacob (Lurene) Bessembinders, Judy Sessions and Paul (Alice) Bessembinders.
  
  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
  
  John was preceded in death by his wife Alida on June 3, 1999, and his brother ,John ,and sister, Fenny. He is survived by his sister, Giny, and brothers, Hidde and Willem.
  
  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17th at the North Logan 5th Ward chapel, 800 E. 2750 North, North Logan. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
