Uncle Bob had promised his dad, Claude, that if anything happened to him, he would take care of his mother untile the end of her life. Uncle Bob had served in the Merchant Marines during the war, and had some pretty narrow escapes. After the war, he tried several different occupations to make a living, including joining the family men in trying to help Uncle Wes in his sheet metal business. Uncle Bob also went to the desert, Barstow and/or Braley come to mind, and prospected and worked in mines for a while. He also tried to open and operate his own photography studio. Eventually, he went to work for the US Postal Service. He was still employed by them when he died.hey were on the verge of marrying, probably in the early 1950's.
