"Olvert and Minnie stayed on the farm. In 1944 Minnie fell and broke her hip and never walked again. She passed away in December of 1951. Olvert stayed on the farm with his son, Joe, until 1970 when he entered Timely Mission NursingHome in Buffalo Center. He passed away in April of 1970."

Mrs. Rippentrop Services Are Held
Lakota: Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church for Mrs. O. J. Rippentrop, with the pastor, E. H. Buschman officiating. Interment was at the Ramsey Reform Church cemetery. The pallbearers were: John Johnson, Henry Rust__er, Arthur Droessler, Fred Asche, Fred Pannkuk, and E. A. Wortman.
Mrs. O. J. Rippentrop, nee Minnie Sleper, was born February 13, 1888 in Mohlenwarf, Ostfriesland, Germany. At the age of three years, in 1891, she came with her parents, Everett and Annie Sleper to his country and settled in the vicinity of Buffalo Center, Iowa. Here she was educated in the rural schools and received her christian training in the Ramsey Reform church with which she became affiliated.
On March 12, 1908 she was joined in holy wedlock to Mr. O. J. Rippentrop by the late Rev. G. Haken at Titonka. At first they made their home on a farm near Woden, but a few years later they moved north of Titonka and in 1930, to theirpresent home. to this union eight children were born, of whom six survive. The other two passed away in infancy.
In December 1943 Mrs. Rippentrop suffered a stroke, from which she rallied fairly well, but on February 17, 1944 she had the misfortune of breaking her hip. She was taken to the hospital and later given the best of care in her home bythe family, but in spite of all that could be done she never regained the ability to walk. During these last years her physical condition gradually grew worse and the final summons of death came to her on Tuesday evening, December 4th at 8:45.
She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lakota November 5, 1928 where she attended regularly as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. O. J. Rippentrop, six children namely: Joe at home, Everett at Bancroft, Olvert of Titonka, Annie, Mrs. George Ennen, Lakota: Marcus of West Des Moines; Gretchen, Mrs. Roland Heetland, Lakota, 17grandchildren, one brother, John Sleper of Titonka, four sisters, Mrs. Otto Swalve, Esterville; Mrs. Henry Baker and Mrs. Ubbe Winter of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Ray Wentworth, Bancroft, many other relatives and friends.
Those from out of town who attended the services were: Mrs. Elsie Swalve and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Isebrand of Esterville; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Vinal Beebo of Armstrong; Mrs. Andrew Boekleman and Henrietta of Algona; Roy Fear, Van Meter, Iowa; George Winter of Athen; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sleper, Burt; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ites, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wentworth and Delbert and Mr. and Mrs. Forest McGregor of Bancroft; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Risius, Rake; Mr.and Mrs. Joe Risius, Crystal Lake; Mr. and Mrs. John Lampe, Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Gabel, Swea City;Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Ubbe, John and Edward Winter, Andrew Winter, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sleper, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sleper, Mr. and Mrs. John Sleper, Mr. and Mrs. George Rippentrop, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hippen, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Auke, Mr. and Mrs Lawrence Balvance and John Rippentrop all of Buffalo Center.

Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, Jerry Heetland, Jerry Ukena, Gertrude Gutknecht and Edith Schroeder who sang "Rock of Ages," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Does Jesus Care."
