Note:
"Siebelt and Anna and theif four daughters (Flora, Dena, Jennie, and Katie) arrived in the United States on or about March 10, 1881. Anna, Johanna, Martha, Christine, and John were born in the United States. Either Siebelt of his brotherHenry (Hinrich) may have landed in Baltimore, MD as a port of entry. This comes from a verbal source. We could not locate either family on any of the available ship manifest.
The famly lived in these early years about a mile east of what is now known as Nicklaus Corner (one mile south of the Big March on Highway 14). They also farmed near the now abandoned town of Eleanor in Monroe Township. Butler County atthis time was largely undeveloped and was growing and changing rapidly.
The first train came into Allison just two years earlier and the court house was moved to Allison from Butler Center just two months before Siebelt and family arrived here. Allison was not incorporated as a town until 1883.
The Hinrichs family attended the Bethel Lutheran Church in Monroe Township, section 2. This church was started by the Rev. Siegfried Siefkes in 1890 and a church building being built in 1891. The family attended Peace Lutheran Church(intersection of Butler Center Road and Sinclair Avenue) between 1886 and 1890. It is not known if or where they attended church before this. Rev. Siefkes served both Ebenezer Church at Butler Center and Bethel Church at the same time.Bethel Church was later moved to Parkersburg, IA. All that remains at the rural site is the German Lutheran Cemetery.
In 1903, Siebelt and Anna bought an 80 acre farm in Jefferson Twonship, section 1, southeast quarter, south 80. Their daughter Johanna died there at the age of 31 from some form of Dystrophy. Six months later on June 27, 1920, Siebeltdied of stomach cancer. Anna sold the farm and bought a house in Allison at 720 4th Street. Anna died June 28, 1946. She reached the age of 96."
