Funeral services for Emma Fisher, 95, - were held Tuesday afternoon, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Thompson with Rev. Harlan A. Stenberg officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thompson with WinterFuneral Service in charge of arrangements.
Casketbearers were Gregory Heitland, Gary Truman, Mark Fisher, Carroll Fisher, Blake Fisher and Daniel Winter. Mrs. Robert Roper was the organist and the congregation sang.
Emma (Schauf) Fisher was born October 11, 1890 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She was orphaned at an early age and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schauf near Crystal Lake, Iowa. She received he'r education in a countryschool and Waldorf College at Forest City. She taught in a rural school two years. She was a Gold Star Mother, honorary member of the Ladies Aid and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women.
On November 8, 1911 she married Forrest C. Fisher. Forrest passed away on July 5, 1936. She was also preceded in death by three sons: Roger in infancy; Carroll, who went down with his ship, the U.S. Henry Mallory in 1943, and Maurice.
She is survived by ten children: Marlin of Thompson; Doris Murphy of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Heitland of Buffalo Center; Faye Tims and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Truman both of Des Moines; Robert of Diablo, California; GeraldineGoumas, of Nyack, New York; Richard of Boulder, Colorado; Ramon of Humboldt; and Mrs. Richard (Gloria) Winter of Austin, Minnesota. Also surviving are 41 grandchildren; 59 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Emma departed from this life on Saturday morning, January 4, 1986 at the Timely Mission Nursing Home" <>
