Born 18.11.1766 in Ohrdruf, Thüringen, baptized there 19.11.1766, and died 14.08.1840 in Frederiksberg, Denmark. He was buried there 19.08.1840. The name Christian is not mentioned in records from Ohrdruf, but seems to have been the most commonly used first name. He studied at the university of Göttingen in 1784 for free by recommendation of the music director Forkels. He studied music in Vienna, Austria and travelled to many cities in Europe as a violinist such as Breslau, Prague, Weimar, Leipzig, Hamburg, and in Copenhagen where in 1785 he gave a concert at the Royal Danish Theater. The concert was a success and he remained in Copenhagen working as a concertmaster and a violinist. He featured a newly discovered instrument called the violin harmonica, which his father allegedly improved. In 1786, “Det Kongelige Kapel” employed him where he
was concertmaster and conductor. He also regularly preformed as soloist and was a music director of the Harmonic Society. From 1801 to 1804, he published booklets with easy duettos for his pupils. He is known as the forefather of the Danish family branch, and this part of the family
has consistently written the surname as “Tiemroth”. His first marriage
was with Sophia (Sophie) Holst; they were married 31.05.1796 in Copenhagen, Denmark at Frederiks German Church. She was born in 1778 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and died there 09.04.1812.
