I have seen John listed as of Bernbrough, Bembrough, and Bambrough,Northumberland. There is a Barnbrough in Yorkshire, but nothing close inNorthumberland, except Bamburgh, which had a castle near it, in factthere is a town/village named Bamburgh Castle.

The following was contained in an e-mail from Brad Verity, batruth AThotmail.com:
4. "Sir Henry Percy, Knight, his name occurs in the accompts of the Earlof Northumberland's offices so early as 1472 when he was alreadyknighted. He appears at that time to have been stationed at Bamburgh, either as having some command there, or as being there resident. In theaccompts of 1480 and 1483, he is styled Lieutenant or Deputy Warden ofthe Marches; and appears to have held very distinguished offices bothunder the Earl his cousin and under the Crown; being in 1484 one of theCommissioners that were to hold meetings with the Scotch Gentlemen, onthe 18th, and 21st of October of that year, to prepare matters for anaccommodation. And on 2 Dec. following he was employed in a commission, with some of the most eminent men on the borders, to negotiate a trucewith Scotland. In 1485, Sir Henry Percy, Knt. was along with his kinsmanthe Earl of Northumberland at the battle of Bosworth field, fought 22August that year. After which battle Sir Henry came the next day, 23August, to Wressil Castle; and on the day after, viz. 24 August, herepaired to York, to quiet the citizens, and to reconcile them to thisnew revolution: for which, and for other good services, he had a grantfrom King Henry VII of the custody of Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, dated 3 May 1486 and would probably have received other marks of royalfavor, but he died the same year, 1486." [Collins' Peerage]
Collins gives Sir Henry Percy of Bamburgh, one son (John Percy below) andone daughter (Margaret) but does not name his wife.
Collins' Peerage, in its article on the Percy earls of Northumberland, makes the John Percy below, a son of Henry & grandson of Sir Ralph Percyand Eleanor Acton:
"John Percy, Esq., apparently succeeded to the estates of Hasand, etc. ofhis grandmother Eleanor daughter and heiress of Laurence Acton, whooutlived her eldest son Sir Henry Percy, many years. John Percy alsoenjoyed a part of the lands at Newton by the sea (not far from Bamburgh)which should seem at a former period (viz. in 1498) to have belonged toSir John Myddylton, Knt. whence it has been conjectured that his motherwas a coheiress, or at least a relation of the said Sir John. Or thisJohn Percy may have had a grant of those lands at Newton, which had beenformerly held under the crown by his uncle George Percy, although no suchgrant is now referred to in the Rolls Index. He apparently died withoutissue after 1520."
