REMARKS: Oliver P. Beam was born January 21, 1833, in Lincoln (now
Cleveland)
County, North Carolina, the son of Christopher Beam and Margaret Gordon.
He was
the ninth of their ten children: John; Lucy; Abel C.; Elizabeth Carson;
Jordan;
Ann Long; Sarah; Esther; Oliver P.; and Marquis Lafayette Beam. The
Christopher Beam family lived on a large farm on Brushy Creek.
Oliver P. Beam married Dicy Tucker, and they had two children: Margaret
and
Lafayette Beam.
According to the entry in "The Heritage Of Cleveland County: Volume I -
1982",
which was written by Mary Gordon Elliott, Oliver P. Beam was killed at
Petersburg, Virginia, on June 23, 1864. According to her "pen and ink"
notations in the column of her copy of the book, Oliver P. Beam died on
July
24, 1862. Since Petersburg did not become a target for Union forces
until June
1864, I think the June 23, 1864, entry is correct.
Data from "The Family Of Christopher Beam" entry in "The Heritage Of
Cleveland
County: Volume I - 1982", written by Mary Gordon Elliott.

MUCH OF THIS RESEARCH IS FROM MERGED RECORDS.
TO INSURE ACCURACY YOU WILL NEED TO VERIFY THE DATA BUT YOU WILL KNOW WHERE TO START. I HOPE IT IS OF SOME HELP.
