He had his main residence in Lugo, where he was count (although not count "of" Lugo). At this time the county hierarchy is not a noble title but rather indicates a function of military chief of a mesnada, generally at his expense. Ero Fern√°ndez (d. C. 926) was a Galician magnate, count of the Lugo region, grandfather of Saint Rosendo, and ancestor of various Galician and Portuguese lineages that connected with the highest nobility of the kingdoms of León and Castilla. His ancestry is not known; It is only known that he was the son of a probable count named Fernando and that he had a brother, Diego Fern√°ndez, a genearch of a powerful family in northern Portugal, husband of Onecca L√∫cidiz. Count Ero lived during the reigns of King Alfonso III of Asturias and his successors and held the dignity of the count from the end of the 9th century and the first decades of the 10th century. His presence in the royal curia of King Alfonso the Great is confirmed in a diploma issued by the king on September 30, 899 when he handed over to the church of Santiago several villas in the territory of Coimbra. He exercised the possession or commission of the Lugo territory and on July 7, 910, while in Lugo, he stole a document addressed to King Ordo√±o II by means of which the counts promise to restore the destroyed houses in the city. A year later, on April 22, 911, he was a witness in a document from King Ordo√±o who confirms to the church of Santiago the donations made by his predecessors. He was a great benefactor of monasteries. With his first wife, Countess Adosinda de Monterroso, he founded the Monastery of Chantada and with the second, Countess Elvira, that of Santa Mar√≠a de Ferreira de Pallares, where he retired while his wife was alive. It appears for the last time on September 24, 926, confirming the deposit letter delivered by Gunterico Arias to Gontrodo Gonz√°lez, Count Ero's granddaughter. He must have died shortly after and was buried in the Ferreira de Pallares monastery that he founded with his second wife.

Count Ero had two marriages. The first was with Adosinda de Monterroso, who would have died before 898. From this marriage two children were born:

Gudensindo √âriz, husband of Enderquina ¬´Palla¬ª Men√©ndez, daughter of Count Hermenegildo Guti√©rrez and Countess Ermesinda Gatónez, with extensive descendants. Ilduara √âriz, Countess by her marriage to Count Gutierre Men√©ndez, also the son of Count Hermenegildo Guti√©rrez. They had several children, among them Saint Rosendo, founder of the Celanova monastery and bishop of Mondo√±edo, as well as Adosinda Guti√©rrez, probably the mother of Queen Velasquita Ramírez. He remarried around 898 with the Countess Elvira who, that year, made a large donation to the monastery of Santa María de Ferreira de Pallares that they had both founded. They had the following children: Diego √âriz (d. C. 917), died young and in 917 his mother Elvira made a donation for her son Diego, now deceased. He considers himself the father of two children: Nepociano and Gundesinda D√≠az, although without convincing documentary evidence.

Godesteo Ériz (d. 939). He married Gugina with whom he had about five children. He also had two other daughters, although it is unknown from which of his two marriages:
