Lawson, Ph.B., B.D., "History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Clement Corbin of Muddy River (Brookline) Mass. and Woodstock, Conn.", 1905, p. 35 #17 BENJAMIN CORBIN (Jabez, Clement), "b. May 23, 1704; m. Jemima Cutler April 19, 1731 (by Rev. Amos Throop). On July 16, 1725, Lieut. Jabez CORBIN deeded to his son Benjamin "a parcell of land scituate in the south half of Woodstock, known by the name of the west division of land." About this time he settled in West Woodstock and became one of the founders of the Congregational Church there. After many disputes and quarrels a site was fixed upon for the church building in 1747, and in 1749 Benjamin CORBIN received permission to build a pew there. (See Miss Larned's History of Windham County). He probably d. at Sturbridge, April 7, 1780."

"In 1749, it was voted, "To build a pulpit and body seats as soon as convenient. Instructions, as follows;..."The pew-spots were "voted to Joseph Marcy, Samuel Bugbee, Ebenezer Lyon, John Child, John Perin, Joshua Chandler, Abraham Perin, Joseph Chaffee, Jonathan Bugbee, John Marcy, Benjamin Marcy, Samuel Child, Edward Johnson, Joseph Hayward, Ed Ainsworth and Benjamin CORBIN--all to finish the walls and case the windows; these and their heirs to hold the pews, and not to sit in the body seats without liberty from the parish. Pews to be finished by first of June come-twelve-month, like those in old parish."
