"He moved to the USA in 1854 ca. He moved here with his father, James, and his sister Elizabeth. She settled in McKeesport, PA. He and his father came to Rock Island County, IL. He was naturalized in 1870. He had a coal mine on what is now John Deere Administration property. In 1893 it collapsed on him. He is buried in the Dayton Cemetery in Colona, IL."
