Bio: Lawrence is the son of Peter Stephens and Maria C Rittenhouse. There were 10 children in the family. Lewis 1714-1802, Maria Christina 1715-1777, Joseph Lawrence 1716-1722, Maria 1717-1792, Lawrence 1722-1776, Margaret 1724-1801, Peter 1732-1812, Henry 1734-1767, Elizabetha 1737-1738 and Keziah Stephens 1737-1814.

Lawrence married Elizabeth Mercer Jones in 1740 in Frederick County, VA. Elizabeth was born on Aug 24, 1722 in Pennsylvania , PA and died in 1749, at a very young age. She was the daughter of John Austins Jones and Anne Vanderslice. They had four children.
1. Mary Stephens born in 1742 in Newtown, VA and died on Aug 6, 11838 in Chuckey, TN, at the age of 96. She married Henry Earnest in 1760 in Stephens City, VA. Henry was born on June 8, 1732 in Zurich, Switzerland and died on March 6, 1809 in Chuckey, TN. They several children
2. Sarah Stephens Born on Mar 25, 1745 in Frederick Co. VA and died on May 7, 1839 in Bowman KY. She married Capt. John Bowman in 1776 in Shenandoah, VA. John was born on Dec 2, 1733 in Cedar Creek, Va and died on Jun 20, 1781 in Camden, SC.
3. Peter Elisha Stephens born in 1746 iin Stephens City, VA and died in 1807 in Cumberland , Kentucky. He married Nancy Carter Wright in KY .They had 4 children.
Peter married Deliah Enyart in 1794 in Cumberlandk KY, They had 4 children.
4. John Henry Stephens born on Nov 16, 1757 in Frederick, VA and died on March 17, 1819 in Eaton, Ohio. He married Jeanette VAnce on Mar 9, 1779 in Shenandoah, VA. They had 12 children.

2. Jacob Stephens born on Sep 2, 1759 in Stephens City and died on Jan 10, 1840 in Madison County, MO. He married to Anne Wilcox Warren on Apr 10, 1784 in Fort Warren , Kentucky. They had 14 children.
3. Joseph L Stephens born in April 22 1761 in Stephens City, VA and died on Feb 14, 1848 in Ruddells Mills, Kentucky. He married Nancy Shackleford on Jun 3, 1784 in VA. They had 5 children. Nancy died on Aug 5, 1791 . On Jan 12, 1792 he married Lucy Garrard, They had 16 children.
4. Isaac Stephens born on Dec 25, 1762 in Stephens City , VA and died on Jun 28, 1833 in Bowling Green Kentucky He married twice First to Mary Jane Wright and they had 11 children. Then he maarriedCatherine Cuman. No children.
