GED-inline validatiestatistieken
Genealogie Online controleert alle binnenkomende GEDCOM bestanden met de GED-inline validator (bron). Gebruikers worden geïnformeerd wanneer er waarschuwingen zijn en door de gebruiker gedefinieerde tags worden gebruikt.
Het aantal waarschuwingen heeft betrekking op de overeenstemming van het GEDCOM-bestand met de GEDCOM-specificatie. Als er waarschuwingen zijn, is de kans groot dat het GEDCOM-bestand niet volledig wordt begrepen door een ander stamboomprogramma of een andere service en dat er een risico bestaat op informatieverlies! De "User defined" waarde vertegenwoordigt het aantal regels in het GEDCOM-bestand waarin een zogenaamde user-defined tag wordt gebruikt. Dergelijke tags zijn geldig binnen GEDCOM, maar de betekenis hiervan is niet vastgelegd in de GEDCOM-specificatie. En vaak worden deze user-defined tags niet openbaar gedocumenteerd. Dus als programma "A" bepaalde informatie in een user-defined tag plaatst, is de kans groot dat programma "B" niet weet welke informatie het is en wat het ermee moet doen. In het beste geval worden deze waarden als commentaar opgenomen, in het slechtste scenario worden deze waarden genegeerd. Dus de user-defined tags verhogen dus ook het risico op informatieverlies.
Hieronder staan enkele statistieken van het uitvoeren van GED-inline op 12.453 GEDCOM-bestanden gepubliceerd op Genealogie Online. Een "generator" is een stamboomprogramma of -service die het GEDCOM-bestand heeft gegenereerd.
