Ralph le Strange, of Mileham & Ercall
Gender:
Male
Birth:
circa 1138
Mileham, Norfolk, England
Death:
before June 1194
Little Ercal, Shropshire, England
Immediate Family:
Son of Roald / Roland le Strange, of Mileham and Matilda "Maud" de Hunstanton
Husband of Mary le Strange
Father of Maud d'Oyry
Brother of John le Strange, I; Mary le Strange; Guy le Strange, of Alveley and Hamo le Strange
Half brother of Bernard le Strange
Ralph of Ercall was dead in June 1194, and was succeeded by two daughters, the elder of whom, Matilda, married Fulk de Oirri, of Gedney, in Lincolnshire, and the younger, Emma, was the wife of Philip de Burnham. A long litigation, lasting from 1194 to 1217, ensued as to their respective shares of Ralph's inheritance both in Norfolk and Shropshire ; the details are given by Eyton 4 from the Plea and other Rolls, but, for genealogical purposes, they are scarcely worth reproducing here.
