Excerpt from "Precious Memories" by Lillian O'Donnell (Aunt Billie)
Emory was a very quiet, gentle person. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. For a long time he rode a bicycle from the farm to the railroad, about 5 miles. He did this until he saved enough money to rent a room in a boarding house owned by Mrs. Clinton. He fell in love with her daughter Rugh and after serving in World War I they were married.
He was a telegraph operator in Fowler, La Junta, Denver and Scott City Kansas. Ruth was a telephone operator and the first to call the family with the news that the war was over.
Emory and Ruth had one daughter na;named Virginia. She married Barry Greenwood and they became the proud parents of twins: Daniel Barry and Janet Ruth.
