    Tekst van het bidprentje;
    "In stilte droeg hij zijn kruis, moedig , zonder te klagen. Zijn kruis was zwaar, haast onmenselijk. Het was een ware gang naarde Calvarieberg. Bij het leed verkoos hij om op de achtergrond te blijven, hij zocht geen medelijden. In stilte wachtte hij op het uur dat God de Heer hem zou plukken als een vrucht, gerijpt voor de eeuwige oogste. Met grote bewondering denken we aan deze man die tot in het jaar 1973 zijn leven gedeeld  heeft met zijn dierbare vrouw die zwak en ziekelijk was. Na haar dood nam hij met grote verantwoordelijkheid de zorg op zich dat toe uit 4 jonge kinderen bestond. Alleen God de Heer weet wat in het hart van deze  mesn aan verdriet en eenzaamheid is omgegaan. "

    Door het overlijden van zijn vrouw Marie nam hij 'lichamelijk' afstand van de broers en zussen Hake, hij kon het niet aan en wilde geen medelijden opwekken. Dezeafstand betekende echter neit dat hij niet betrokken was. Hij was van alle aktiviteiten op de hoogte, zijn kinderen werden opgevoedt met hun neefjes en nichtjes, zoals het hoorde. DAt was voor hem ook heel belangrijk.

    Toen hij  zelf ernstig ziek werd en een tumor werd ontdekt in zijn mond, is iederen er geweest voor hem. De stap om zich naar buiten te laten zien werd echter groot, omdat de tumor grote delen van zijn gezicht verteerde en hij 'geen gezicht'meer had. Het leven werd steeds zwaarder voor hem en eten en drinken werd onmogelijk.  UIteindelijk heeft deze ziekte er toe geleidt dat hij stierf.

  • He is buried on August 19, 1992 in Ter Apel, RK kerkhof, Vlagtwedde, Westerwolde, Groningen, Nederland.
