    Zij werd geboren 9 mei 1938 te Emmen. Haar moeder stierf kort na haar geboorte. Ze groeide op met haar 3 broers en 5 zussen. Na haar schooltijd was zij eerst enkele jaren thuis. Daarna werkte ze vele jaren i_n de sociale werkplaats in Emmen, totdat ze wegens ziekte voor het werk werd afgekeurd. In 1966 was ze met haar ouders in Erica komen wonen, waar haar vader in 1969, hartwerkende moeder in 1974 overleed. Ze leefde samen met haar broer Joop in een goede verstandhouding.


    Marie was geestelijk gehandicapt, beschikte echter over een goed geheugen. Ze hield met post en telefoneren de verjaardagen van neefjes en nichtjes bij. Bij feesten in de familie kon ze echt genieten, hield ook van een keer uitgaan; had plezier in 't maken van foto's en kon heel mooi borduren. Marie was een bindende figuur in de fa. milie. Met haar opgewekte natuur kon ze met iedereen overweg en ieder met Marie. Ook lichamelijk was ze niet sterk. Moest bij 't werk thuis geholpen worden. Ze liep slecht, maar Marie heeft nooit geklaagd; was voor haarzelf bikkelhard. De laatste jaren werd haar reactievermogen trager. Was meer in haarzelf gekeerd. Marie werd op 18 januari 's morgens bewusteloos gevonden; ontving het Sacrament van de zieken en nog diezelfde dag gaf ze haar leven terug in de hand van haar Schep· per. Na een Eucharistieviering ten afscheid hebben we haar stoffelijk lichaam begraven op het parochiekerkhof te Erica op 23 januari 1992. Daar zal het rusten tot op de dag van de Heer.
