Elizabeth Dyer (William1) was born about 1664 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island and died on an unknown date.
In Jan. 1669/70, her brothers Samuel and Henry agreed to pay her 40 pounds within 3 yrs of their father's death. It is also noted in regard to Elizabeth, "and to be careful of her maintenance in case of her mother's death."William Allan Dyer, ''The Name of Dyer, A Genealogical Record,'' 1940, p 66 (She was still a child at that time.)
Her adult history remained a mystery until 1992 when Jane Fletcher Fiske found a 14 Nov 1693 court record that named her::"John Greenman, plf Against Samuel Dyer eft, in an Action of Debt by bond the Case pleade in Court & Committed to ye jury: The verditt of the Jury is wee find for John Greenman plf husband to '''Elizabeth second Daughter William Dyre''' Deceased fourty pounds CUrrent ony with Cost of Suit."Jane Fletcher Fiske, "Two Rhode Island Wives Identified: Elizabeth Dyre, wife of John Greenman," in ''NEHGR,'' 146(1992):294-295, citing first record book of the RI Court of Trials (aka Newport Court Book A)
Elizabeth married John Greenman 78 before 1694, son of Edward Greenman and Mary (Nee?) Greenman. John was born on 27 Mar 1666 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island, and died there on 30 Sep 1727, age 61, and was buried in 1727 in Common Burial Ground. Elizabeth's death record and burial location have not been found.
