Subject: Re: Deakin Family

Hello Phil,

I cannot tell you how delighted Iwas to hear from you. For a number of years I have followed the Whittington site and My Village .......Yes I shall be pleased to tell you what I know of my part in the grand Deakin history. Do you think all the folk in Whittington are from the same line, or as can happen, families from different places happen to reside in the same parish.

Well to begin, yes you are on the right Mary, also Mary and «b»Thomas.«/b»

Elizabeth Emma was born 18th February 1836 (according to the family bible), so far I have never found a baptism for her. As far as I know in Linton near Church Gresley.

«b»Thomas «/b»and his wife Mary left Whittington some time between daughter Emma christened 16.9.1821 and son Charles born at Linton, 1827. So that is where they died.

Now I wonder if you can help me on this. According to the I.G.I. A Mary Elizabeth was baptised at Whittington, 12th June 1812. My Mary appears in the Census for 1871 living with daughter ElizabethEmma at Chilcote, Leics./Derbyshire. No mention of a second name. Likewise she appears in Census of 1851 just as " Mary". Also back at Church Gresley "Elizabeth" daughter of Thomas Deakin marries in 1839. I wonder if you know if, in fact, Mary and Elizabeth were twins ? and it just does not say on the I.G.I.

There are many questions I would love to ask you but will send this for now.

I was very interested to hear of your wife's connection with Deakins.

I visited Whittington September 1996 and took photos of the church and the gravestones. Obviously connected by them all in one place and similar in design, but haven't tied in Abraham.

Thank you again and look forward to hearing.

Ann
