Rebecca Wigley, 57, who had been the treasurer of St Giles' Church, in Whittington, Staffordshire, for 15 years, died after falling from its tower.Staffordshire police were not treating the death as suspicious. The Rev John Martin said: "Becky was much-loved."

Lichfield Mercury article 20 Mar 2008 says thatshe plummeted to her death after jumping from the bell tower of St Giles Church, Whittington, she had climbed out onto the roof, locking the door behind her.

An Inquest at 13 Mar 2008,Cannock Coroners Courtheard how 57 year old Rebecca Wigley of Church Street, removed her glasses, belt and shoes before leaping to her death on the morning of 13 Sep 2007.

Her motionless body was found face down at the base of the tower, shortly after 10:15 by waste didpodal men.

Becky as church treasurer had full acces to the church and had had unfounded worries about the church accounts, a business run by her husband Malcolm had gone into liquidation, but other businesses were sound.

The church books balanced perfectly but Rebecca had fears that they did not.

Coroner Andrew Haigh ruled that Mrs Wigley had intended to kill herself.
