Notes about Thomas SPARKES

(Research):A Thomas Sparks married a Catherine Garner, 11 f eb 1779, Fillongley, Chesh ire. A Sabina is also quoted a s his wife?

Hi Phil,Nothing particular so far as Whittington

goes. However, I've been doing a lot of research into the Mallet/Mallett/Malet

family, who were a very interesting bunch.I've done a couple of articles

for the FTF magazine about the Mallets from Lichfield and Nottingham, and I'm

now researching another line, who lived in the Congo and Singapore in the early

part of the 20th c. All of them are descended from Jonathan Mallet of Lichfield.

There is one thing I wanted to ask you.My «b»Sparkes«/b» family lived

(until the mid 1880s) at Hurst Farm near Whittington, which was leased by«b» Thomas

Sparkes the elder in 1780 «/b»(not sure if they bought it later). However, I know

there are two Hurst farms, one of which has now been demolished, and I'm not

sure which of the two they lived in. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can

find out? I shall probably be calling at the Lichfield RO in September, but I'm

not sure if they'll be able to help. I have looked at the maps on your site, but

although I can see which land «b»Thomas «/b»owned, I can't work out which was his

house.
